Roles and Responsibilities
Application Criteria
Please read the following criteria before applying.
- All undergraduate and graduate fellows must be enrolled full-time at the University of Oklahoma. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that he or she has met the admission requirements of the University, the Graduate College (graduate applicants), and their academic departments. Go to the University of Oklahoma web site for the enrollment requirements of each unit.

- Applicants must be enrolled in an engineering, science, mathematics, or math/science/technology-related education degree program.
- Undergraduate applicants must have junior or senior standing. Students who will have completed a bachelor's degree prior to the fall semester (2001) must enroll as a graduate fellow.
- Undergraduate fellows must have either a GPA of 3.3/4.0 or a SAT score of, or greater than, 1325 or a ACT score of, or greater than, 30 to be accepted.
- Graduate students can be at any point in their studies, however preference will be given to those who can commit at least two years to the program.
- Graduate students must have either a GPA of 3.3/4.0 or an GRE score of 1200/1600 to be accepted.
- Although this program involves modern technologies, the successful applicant is not required to have had research experience nor be technically sophisticated.
- Although this program involves teaching, the successful applicant is not required to have previous teaching experience or an educational background.
- Applicants must possess: maturity, professionalism, a keen interest in developing new curricula and teaching, an ability to professionally interact with a variety of professionals and students of all ages, and an open-mindedness for multiple perspectives.
- Women and minorities are highly encouraged to apply.
- The fellowship requires extensive time commitments: 10-hours/week in secondary class rooms; 2 hours/week in lecture; and time for developing activities and working with teachers and faculty. These activities may obligate the fellow to some evening and weekend hours. Graduate fellows will also have commitments during the summer semester.
- Fellows are prohibited from committing to other employment concurrent with the
fellowship.
- According to NSF requirements, undergraduate student participants supported with NSF funds must be US citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
