Open House
For the past ninety-two years, the students of the University of Oklahoma have had the pleasure of inviting area high school students to participate in the Engineering Open House. This is the oldest and most successful student-operated event on the University of Oklahoma campus. High school students from across the state come to Norman every year to sample what OU Engineering has to offer. Academic testing and engineering design competitions are the highlights of the day. These competitions are designed to allow students to display their knowledge of math, science, and logic areas. The annual Engineering Open House allows tomorrow's engineers and scientists to get started today.
Engineers Week
Each year in the spring the engineers take a break from their rigorous studying and celebrate the anniversary of their founding. As you may have noticed, shamrocks, shillelaghs, and leprechauns are our symbols and our color? GREEN!!! The reason we seem to like the Irish spirit so much is that our patron saint is Saint Patrick O'Reilly. Why Saint Pat? Everyone knows it was St. Pat's engineering ability which enabled him to rid Ireland of all the snakes they had during that time. So to honor him, we have our annual Engineers' Week. The week is full of parties and activities and is the highlight of the semester. It is also at this time that the lawyers become leery of anyone wearing green. Check back here for a list of events. |
