Research Experience
for Undergraduates
The
REU program is intended to provide talented undergraduate
students with hands-on research during the summer
in the area of manufacturing metrology and quality
engineering.
The
REU program is supported by a grant from the
Department of Defense and the National Science

Objective
To
formally introduce and involve undergraduate students
in research in manufacturing inspection methods and
equipment. By exposing more students in STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines
to this important area, we attempt to improve the
nation's competitiveness in manufacturing and product
maintenance through the development of a quality infrastructure.

About
the program
Each
year an average of 12 students from four-year colleges
and universities will be selected from various universities
nationwide based on their academic record and aptitude
towards research. Students will spend ten weeks on
the OU campus this summer conducting scientific research.
The participants will be trained by working with OU
faculty who have extensive experience directing research
by undergraduate students. |
