Too often it seems like girls are discouraged from pursuing math and science intensive fields. One of SWE’s goals is to demonstrate that girls can become whatever they want to be. We believe that there are many girls in high schools from all across Oklahoma who may have never considered becoming an engineer, and we serve to equip them with information about the field of engineering.

The girls who attend will have opportunities to talk to college professors and advisors about engineering or other college concerns. They will learn about scholarship opportunities, the kinds of careers available for engineers, and what they need to do in high school to prepare for college. The day will also be filled with fun activities designed to promote teamwork and leadership, door prizes, and interesting speakers. Lunch is included in the registration fee, and there will be t-shirts to commemorate the event.
