About SWE

The Society of Women Engineers is dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and employment of women in engineering. SWE provides an active social network for women in the engineering field at OU while simultaneously gaining technical enrichment. Our members include majors from every engineering field; from freshmen to graduate students; and from varying ethnic and social backgrounds. SWE hosts monthly social and technical meetings with additional community service aspects. Our main events for the year include Girl Scout Badge Day, Mr. Engineering Pageant, Date Auction, and High School Girls' Day.

Locally

Joining your local chapter of SWE is very simple! All that is required is for you to attend a meeting, fill out a membership form, and then have fun! To stay a member you must attend at least two general meetings and one event per semester.
If you sign in at every SWE meeting or event that you attend then you will gain points that can gain you a prize at the end of the year! This year Regina won a $200 gift card for being our Most Active Member!

Nationally

Joining SWE nationally is also quite simple! All that is required is for you to visit their website, fill out the membership form, and pay the $20 annual fee.
Being a national SWE member provides a number of benefits including, but not limited to, the option to attend national and regional conference, career assistance, SWE magazine, and a wonderful support system! You must be a national SWE member in order to be an officer or attend conference.
