Dean's Leadership Council

The Dean’s Leadership Council (DLC) establishes connections leading to a strong sense of community within the College of Engineering through student-to-student interaction.  This community will be built through service, dedication, respect, and honesty toward others, engineering as a profession, the College of Engineering, and the University of Oklahoma.
The Council members are engineering students with excellent academic credentials, leadership and communication skills. They serve as mentors to freshman engineering students, tutors for courses in engineering curricula, and student recruiters for engineering major. DLC members are selected through an application process. Interested students should e-mail scalonkey(AT)ou.edu for more information.

DEAN’S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL MENTORS

DLC Mentors contribute to the College of Engineering by sharing the knowledge and skills gained through your college experience with new engineering students. They work closely with the members of the College of Engineering administration, staff and faculty. DLC Mentors assigned to a group of students enrolled in ENGR 1410/1420 develop execute interactive projects and activities with their protégés.  DLC Mentors assigned to ENGR 3410 organize mentoring events for the whole class, and serve as e-mentor for the new transfer students.

Mentors attend all DLC training sessions and team meetings, 1-2 hours every two weeks; serve as positive, enthusiastic role model for protégés in attitude, work ethic and professionalism; exchange constructive feedback and information with other mentors and the DLC advisers; and identify and encourage opportunities for protégés to become involved in the University, the College of Engineering, and the community.

DEAN’S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL RECRUITERS

DLC Recruiters are engineering students assisting the WSSC with student recruitment. Recruiters give CoE tours to prospective students and parents, serve as a mentor and share academic experiences with them. Tours are given on Mondays and Fridays from noon to 12:30 pm after a 30-minute informational session given by a WSSC representative in Felgar Hall Room 112.
