Solid State Devices
Welcome to the Solid State Devices research group at the University of Oklahoma. We perform research in a number of areas related to development of mid-infrared optoelectronic devices as well as development of applications for these devices. Specific research areas include semiconductor materials growth and characterization, laser fabrication, and tunable laser spectroscopy. This web site contains links to publications from our group, a photo gallery of our laboratories, and examples of molecular absorption spectra in the mid-infrared spectral range. Our group has been active in this research area since 1991, and a significant outcome of our work includes the spin-out of EkipsTechnologies (www.breathmeter.com) a start-up company based in Norman, OK that is applying mid-infrared laser technology in development of breath analysis instruments for diagnosis and monitoring of diseases such as asthma. The research behind this technology-transfer success was a Highlight on NSF's web site in October 2002 and was covered by optics.org and in Laser Focus World.
